In the summer of 1979, a cafe named "Feelings" opened on Royal Street. After its successful first year, it moved to its present historic location, part of the first plantation land granted for private ownership by the first New Orleans settlers. Research uncovered that in 1795, Nicholas D'Aunoy purchased the plantation and the land was incorporated into the Faubourg of Bernard Marigny, creating the present historical neighborhood of Faubourg Marigny.

Evoking an authentic old New Orleans feel, Feelings Cafe now occupies most of the buildings of the D'Aunoy Plantation. Dining rooms are located in both the main house and the old slave quarters, with bricks from its massive fireplace recycled as the courtyard surface.

One of the most romantic restaurants in New Orleans, guests to Feelings Cafe enjoy the courtyard's intimacy. Our brick patio is sheltered by palms, banana trees, and high walls ... music from the Patio Lounge along one side serenades you as you sip cocktails and dine at the outdoor tables.

Dining Rooms
Even our largest dining area spaces are fairly intimate and quiet. An open gallery above the Patio Lounge provides additional seating with a courtyard view and romantic balcony tables for two. Private rooms are available which can accommodate 20-30 people.

After enjoying the Piano Bar and courtyard, you may step across the alleyway to the main dining room on the ground floor of the storehouse to enjoy your meal. Experience the atmosphere of 19th-century New Orleans ... old red brick, shuttered French doors, antique wood panels, mirrors, and candles casting a soft light on the white-linened tables beneath the ceiling fans.
